Arc de Triumph
From the quaint town in Versailles, we went back to the busy streets of Paris.
On the way to the hotel, we decided to drop off in Chmps Elysees to walk along the acclaimed "world's most beautiful avenue".
Midway through the the avenue and the hotel is this scenic landmark - Arc de Triumph.
This monument commemorates Napoleon Bonaparte's many victories. This is said to be the world's largest triumphal arc in the world. The monument stands 165 feet in height and 45 meters wide.
Engraved around the top of the Arch are the names of the major victoriesw won during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods. Beneath the Arch is the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". This is in remembrance to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war.
